Fort Worth: A “Most Livable Bargain Market”

MSN gives Fort Worth a shout out today on their home page as one of their Most Livable Bargain Markets. The Fort Worth-Arlington metro joins Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Lincoln, Nebraska, among others, as one of MSN Real Estate’s ten most affordable places to live in 2011.

The article touts Fort Worth as “a boomtown in its own right, with a growing job base and a rich character…” We agree!

Check out the great picture of downtown Fort Worth on the story’s home page:

God Bless Texas!

Great opinion piece from today’s Wall Street Journal about job creation here in Texas. (I do read other papers besides WSJ, guys, I promise. Just happened to share a couple of their articles this week.)

Richard Fisher, President of the Federal Reserve Bank here in Dallas, states 37% of all net new American jobs since the recovery began were created in Texas and credits Texas’ success to our “free market and business-friendly climate.” Read on and be proud (and thankful) to live in our great state:

WSJ: Why It’s Time To Buy

This article from Saturday’s Wall Street Journal is a thoughtful analysis of the factors that can help answer the question whether it’s a good time to buy a home right now. In discussing how employment is a key factor in the economy, this article specifically emphasizes Dallas as a solid job market and steady housing market. I appreciate that this article includes Psychology as a factor in what’s affecting people’s decision to buy.

“Housing’s New Reality” by James P. Gaines

Here’s a link to an article by James P. Gaines from Tierra Grande magazine. He does a great analysis and explanation of renting versus owning in the changed housing market. He also gives some great data on the Texas market specifically. This article is pretty dense and fact-filled but super informative.
